Partners Meeting on May 10th, 2016

Partners applauded the clear mission and strategy of Dii, focusing on practical RE project challenges and grid issues, and the fact that two new partners have joined the group: Alfanar of Saudi Arabia and Mondragon Educacion and Training of Spain.

DSC_0176The Partner Meeting on May 10th, 2016 is led by Paul van Son as the acting CEO of Dii, presented plans and progress 2016, New activities were proposed by the shareholders and partners, and ideas for reinforced support from partners which turned out to be very collaborative and informative. There include the coming events to be organized by Dii, the Morocco Workshop that was presented by Jack Ceadel, which will bring the key players and top minds together to discuss how to expedite the roll-out of utility-scale renewables projects and further the goal of greater grid interconnection.

After a networking coffee break, selected partners have presented the discussion from their respective working group which gave an interesting spark for everyone. Partners defined the hurdles for renewable projects in the MENAT region from their experiences as big industrial players. "The main objective of finding hurdles for RE projects is to eliminate hurdles for emission-free technology projects, capturing synergies through transmission capacities across national borders thus, encouraging transparent, open markets offering realistic price signals, showing true competitiveness of renewable and regional participation" as put forward by Fred Wendt of ILF consulting Engineers.

Presented by Oliver Lorenzen, Office of the RWE MENAT Country Chair The Renewable energy market in Turkey where he showed the Main Power Market Authorities, Electricity Market Value Chain and Market players, and quick facts. Going deeper and in depths of information regarding grid lines, current situation, the outlook and the potential of  The Renewable energy market in Turkey.

Shortly, Gerhard Weinrebe of SBP presented the background of the technology being used in their CSP plants, the Heliostats and how does it stand above as a cost effective and technically reliable equipment which rises of interesting questions and discussion among partners.

following on, Santi Perez of AWS Truepower presented Wind Farm Under performance. Mainly for hurdles of wind turbines enumerating set-back of Wind Energy  "Unconsidered factors can play a role in the underperformance syndrome as well. Grid and environmental curtailments, as well as the impacts of newly built wind farms on nearby existing ones, can be sources of production losses that were often not accounted for in past pre-construction energy estimates. "

With everyone being intrigue of the up-coming Desert Energy Leadership Summit 2016, led by Chris Bowling and Jack Ceadel, discussed the topics and themes for the next Annual Summit and what does Dii should learn from the last summit and further improve for the upcoming summit were discussed about what the partners and shareholders are expecting.
